Fail Up!

May 7th, 2022.

The Ironman World Championships in St. George, UT.

Up at 3:30am.

2.4 miles of swimming in 60 degree water.

112 miles of biking with over 7000 feet of elevation change.

26.2 miles of running in 90 degree heat.

13 hours. 57 minutes. 38 seconds.

To bed at 11:30pm.

By my wife’s standards, this was a failure: “I know I can go so much faster—I know I’m better.”

Funny how other people saw it, though:

“Congrats Julie on climbing to the top! You have done something most people can only dream about.”

“You’re still standing!?!”

“IronMOM!!!”

“She is just amazing!! Go Julie!!”

“Wow. Incredible. You’re an inspiration.”

“She did that 16 months after having a baby?!? Absolutely incredible!”

Here’s something to chew on:

Set a ridiculously ambitious goal!!!

What do you have to lose?

Any “failure” that may come from it, will be an extraordinary success to others.
